Sosua Dominican Republic is a popular vacation destination with a beautiful bay and sandy beaches. The beach itself is nestled in an open bay and offers swimmers a panoramic view over the golden sand from which emerges a lush vegetation of almond and coconut groves.
Equally pleasing for sunbathing and swimming, it is blessed with coral reefs abundant with tropical marine life.
This combination makes it a great spot for scuba diving enthusiasts.

Luperon Beach is about 30-40 minutes drive away to the east and has both many rocks but also easy swimming areas.

These days the local population live in harmony with a sigificant number of European immigrants.
Many Europeans came to Sosua Dominican Republic as a consequence of the massive exodus generated by the turmoil of World War II.
In 1938 the Dominican Republic committed to assisting other countries in alleviating the distressing consequences of the Holocaust. As a result an immigrant group, made up mostly of German and Austrian Jews, settled in Sosua.
Susequently, the Dominican Republic Settlement Association (DORSA) was established to initiate an experimental agricultural community project.
The refugee group comprised many professionals and skilled craftsmen, and they have made a significant contribution to the regions socio-economic development.
Some immigrants worked in the agricultural industry and founded industrial dairy and cattle production cooperatives.
Today, this cooperative, Productos Sosua,is a powerful enterprise that makes the famous Sosua sausages, cheeses and butter and has its own grocery store chain. It still thrives today.
