Samana Dominican Republic -interview with Enaro
Here at www.dominican-republic-holiday.com we like to provide an insight into the lives of local Dominicans.
Here, Ashers conducts an interview with Enaro who organises boat tours from the waterfront in Samana.
Enaro is easily recognisable as he wears extremely loud T-shirts and only has one leg!
We wanted a fishing boat to take us to Cayo Levantado, Enaro sorted it out.

I would also recommended that you have a look at our trip to Cayo Levantado.

The interview with Enaro is in Spanish but the English transcription is below:
Q] How long have you been working here?
A] I`ve been working here over 20 years.
Q] What do you mainly do here?
A] Look after tourists. Give them information. Make them feel welcome in Samana, my town. So that when they return to their countries they return some day, they tell their friends and they too come and visit -people from Europe, the US and in South America.
Q] So you help to organise the trips do you?
A] Yes I put them it touch with boat owners and tour organisers who can take them to Los Haitises, Bahyia de Limon (Lemon Bay), to Bahyia de Rincon (Corner Bay), also to Las Galeras.
Q] So how long to Bahyia de Rincon (Corner Bay) for example?
A] An hour or so in a taxi. We also broker visits to the caves, also during the whales season we facilitate trips to see them. January, February, March, this is the very busy period. Also we facilitate trips to Cayo Levantado Island, or Limon.
Q] OK so today, we did a deal on a trip to Cayo Levantado with Enaro, 1500 pesos (about US $45], plus a beer. So this extra money here is for the beer.
A] Thank you and go well.
