See the box on the right for further information. Monster Truck (90US): A full day trip from 8am-6pm with about an hour to the Monster trucks. It was fairly crowded and a little bumpy so be prepared to rough it for the day! Plenty of drinks were available and the trip took in a visit to a local family [to try their coffee] and a farm [to try their fruits, candy and sugar cane] and a school. Later their was time for a Dominican meal and a swim in the river. There was a visit to a local `magic man` on the way home for a photo opportunity! The Bavaro Runners Safari Adventure [90US adults, 60US children]
This trip lasts about 8 hours from 8.30-4.30pm. The visit takes in a Dominican school [in term time], a sugar cane plantation [you can stop and taste this] and horseback riding along the mountains. There is a visit a typical Dominican country home to sample Caribbean fruits, roasted coffee, cacao, and the opportunity to see and learn how Dominicans live.
Later you get to spend time at a ranch in the mountains and enjoy a typical Dominican buffet. The views are breathtaking and those that wish to can swim in a river.
There are visits to a rum shack and to see how cigars are made.
Finally you get to visit Macao Beach although bear in mind there is a lack of a habitable bathroom by the beach! NB:the roads can be very bumpy so it is not recommended for those with a bad back!
Zip Line [through Bavaro Runners]
The zip line tour will take you into the hills. After about one hour you arrive at the destination and enjoy zip lines of between 65 meters to 250 meters. This is more of an beginner-intermediate course but the place is fantastic with the opportunity to climb to some well built tree houses as you begin the adventure. The staff are great fun and will keep you laughing the whole way. This was great fun! 4 Wheel Adventure(65 US): Having been collected from the resort, it was about a 45-minute trip. This excursion lasted for around 2 hours and included a visit to a cave with a 25-30 foot deep pool of water. There was the opportunity to dive into the pool and enjoy this special place. Children seemed to particularly enjoy it! We then moved on Macao beach for some swimming. A DVD was available for [as the trip was filmed by a tour guide] at a cost of 30US.
You get sandwiches and beverages, and they bring a floating bar to you whilst you are drinking in the water! The snorkelling isn`t brilliant, i is essentially a party boat! Rancho Capote and its Cueva Fun Fun Adventure lovers may book an underground excursion to the longest underground cave in the Caribbean. This is a shallow cave running seven kilometers. Experience the darkness down under, the giant corridors, the cave art, and the magic whisper of the subterranean rivers. This thrilling excursion begins with a ride on horseback, then a walk through the jungle and the cave, and ends with a well-deserved lunch. The owners of the ranch are one of the country's leading orange growers so expect delicious fresh orange juice with lunch.
