Pastelon de Tuna recipe

A delicious main course fish recipe from the Dominican republic. It translates into `Tuna fish pie` in English although I think it is more exotic than it sounds!

Ingredients

  1. 2x 240 gram tins of tuna fish in brine
  2. 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  3. 2x tablespoons of margarine
  4. 1 chopped white onion
  5. half cup of chopped celery
  6. 2x 305 gram tins of cream of asparagus soup
  7. 1/3 cup of cream
  8. 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  9. 1/2 cup of grated cheddar cheese
  10. 1 tablespoon of choppped parsley

Directions

Pastelon de Tuna recipe

Preparation:

  1. Grease a Pyrex dish with margarine.
  2. In a bowl, mix the tuna and the lemon juice together well, and set aside.
  3. Put the margarine in a heated frying pan, add the tuna and the celery, and cook for a few minutes, add the aspragus soup and the cream, and when this is boiling add the tuna, mixing it well.
  4. Pour this mixture into the dish.
  5. Mix together the breadcrumbs, cheese and parsley and sprinkle over the tuna mixture in the dish.
  6. Cook in the oven for 20 minutes at 350 degrees and serve hot.

Prep/Cooking Time: 35 minutes
