Melia Caribe Punta Cana -THE BEACH AND POOLS

THE BEACH

For the full review of the Sol Melia Caribe Tropical Punta Cana check out the box above. This page focuses on the beach and pools. bavaro beach punta cana, dominican republic

In my view the beach is one of the best in Punta Cana. It is safe for children and those who do not swim well and the waters are generally very gentle.

There are public beaches which you can enjoy. Click here for more on Bavaro and the surrounding public beaches.

THE SEA

The water at the Melia Caribe Punta Cana is beautiful Caribbean blue.

You get a little bit of seaweed but they are very diligent about cleaning it away!

BEACH WALKS

In Bavaro there is plenty of scope for extensive beach walks. If like me you like to get the iPod on and go for a wander this beach is for you.

The sand is rarely too hot and you can walk up and down as far as you like! bavaro beach punta cana, dominican republic

Those beach huts were amazing and we had no problem getting a shaded area with chairs. There was no bar unless you were Royal Service.

SNORKELLING

There was not much in the way of snorkelling off the beach even though there was free equipment.

If you want to snorkel you will need to sign up for a tour boat at 31US per person to get to the coral reef.

BEACH ACTIVITIES

Apart from snorkelling there are plenty of beach activities and the non-motorized water sports are included in the price of the holday [whether Royal Service or not!]. bavaro beach punta cana, dominican republic

You will find kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, water bikes, sunfish sailing, and even a free diving lesson.

SWIMMING POOLS

bavaro beach punta cana, dominican republic There are 2 large pools, the Caribe and the more child friendly Tropical.

The Tropical pool was generally busier with more people and more music playing. The pools were were clean and the water clear.

There were plenty of lounge chairs in or out of the sun, or indeed in or out of the water!

GABI POOL

The Gabi pool has pool cabanas, a beautiful pool area and a swim-up bar.

Some merengue recommendations

Juan Luis Guerra is the most popular merengue artist in the Dominican Republic.

His greatest hits collection is a must!

A Bachata recommendation

Bachata is also incredibly popular in the Dominican Republic.

The following album gives a good feel for this type of music.
