Melia Caribe Punta Cana -THE BEACH AND POOLS
THE BEACHMelia Caribe Tropical, Bavaro, Dominican Republic -the review
Melia Caribe Punta Cana - Summary and Conclusions
In my view the beach is one of the best in Punta Cana. It is safe for children and those who do not swim well and the waters are generally very gentle. There are public beaches which you can enjoy. Click here for more on Bavaro and the surrounding public beaches.
The water at the Melia Caribe Punta Cana is beautiful Caribbean blue. You get a little bit of seaweed but they are very diligent about cleaning it away! BEACH WALKS In Bavaro there is plenty of scope for extensive beach walks. If like me you like to get the iPod on and go for a wander this beach is for you.
The sand is rarely too hot and you can walk up and down as far as you like!
Those beach huts were amazing and we had no problem getting a shaded area with chairs. There was no bar unless you were Royal Service. SNORKELLING There was not much in the way of snorkelling off the beach even though there was free equipment. If you want to snorkel you will need to sign up for a tour boat at 31US per person to get to the coral reef. BEACH ACTIVITIES
You will find kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, water bikes, sunfish sailing, and even a free diving lesson. SWIMMING POOLS
The Tropical pool was generally busier with more people and more music playing. The pools were were clean and the water clear. There were plenty of lounge chairs in or out of the sun, or indeed in or out of the water!
GABI POOL
The Gabi pool has pool cabanas, a beautiful pool area and a swim-up bar.

There are 2 large pools, the Caribe and the more child friendly Tropical.
Depth of the water ranged from 2 feet to 5 feet allowing every one to find a comfortable swimming area.
My step-son actually learned to swim properly whilst we were and preferred the pool to the beach so we tended to stay there.
