	Dominican Republic Prison Gig photo`s Dominican Republic prison gig photo`s This selection of photo`s were taken during the gig performed by Andy Ashcroft [British Ambassador] Roberto Santana and myself at Najayo women`s prison in Dominican republic. This is really the second part of a three part story. For the background to the gig Click here [part one]. We followed this gig with a second gig this time attended by the Dominican First Lady Margarita de Cideno de Fernandez, wife of President Dr Leonel Fernandez Reyna. The second gig was to publicise Dominican mother`s day and the prisoners were allowed to bring their children into the prison for the event. Click here for part three including photo`s with Margarita de Cideno de Fernandez. Below are photo`s from the first gig. I love this photo taken before the the Dominican Republic prison gig. There is a prison officer on the roof and the prisoners are in the white and green T shirts seated behind some of the guests. Before the gig [see right]the prisoner`s performed a dance routine which was very well received by the audience. The prisoner`s also performed a speech focussing on their re-integration into society following their sentence. Below-Los Tres Rebeldes on stage. There is a surreal blend of palm trees and barbed wire ! As night fell the prisoners joined us on stage for a final rendition of La Bamba, Los Tres Rebeldes at the end of the gig. It is fair to say that the gig went very well. Obviously we`ve heard all of the jokes such as...` so did anyone get up and leave then?`.. .etc etc !!! As the story was covered on Dominican TV, we`ve achieved our objective of raising the profile of the good work being to improve the standards in Dominican prisons, and with the chances of the inmates to re-integrate into society and benefit society as a whole. Indeed such was the success of the gig that a return gig was arranged, this time in front of the the Domincan First Lady, Margarita de Cideno de Fernandez, wife of President Dr Leonel Fernandez Reyna.
