Samana is located in north east Dominican Republic on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
It is rightly world famous for people visiting to watch the approximately 5,000 humpback whales when they visit the bay between January and March of each year.
If you want a day trip from Samana check out Cayo Levantado a beautiful island just off the coast.
If you hire a car you may want to go to Bahia de Rincon, Las Terrenas, or Las Galeras.
La Churcha is a tourist attraction. It is a church which was brought out from England by boat in 1824 for the slave population who had re-settled from the USA.
Those interested in nature may wish to go to Los Haitises National Park which is normally reached by boat.
If you are a determined golfer the nearest golf at Playa Grande Golf is around 90 minutes away by car but if you check out the video you want to go!

There is no doubt that it is one of the most beautiful areas of the Dominican Republic, yet the tourist industry has not yet exploited the full potential of its location.
