Course Summary
Cocotal golf course was designed by renowned architect, Jose "Pepe" Gancedo, six-time spanish Champion. His design follows the lay of the land and the course is built on what used to be a coconut plantation.
Trademark features of Cocotal golf course include strategically-placed trees, bunkers, mounds and gently rolling terrain with well-defined and generous fairways without forgetting an unrelenting wind. The utilization of four sets of tees provides low-handicapped golfers with a course of great challenge, while beginners and intermediate players can continually improve their game in a player-friendly environment.

This was the first course that I played in the Dominican Republic whilst I was staying at the Sol Melia Tropical Caribe in Bavaro. I was very happy with the course which was part of my package with the hotel. The shuttle bus was reliable although a walk from hotel to course was the distance of a par 5 if you preferred to walk.
This is a very respectable course and near to most resorts in Punta Cana.
Golf Bavaro Which resorts is it near enough to travel from?
Cocotal is situated on the East Coast Dominican Republic, close to the Sol Melia Caribe and Sol Melia Tropical resorts.
If you are flying into Punta Cana airport and staying in Punta Cana, Bavaro, Cap Cana, Cabeza de Toro, El Cortecito, Arena Gorda, Macao or Uvero Alto, it will not kill you to get to this one. Certainly no more than an hour and it should be considerably less. From Punta Cana Airport drive 28 km to Bavaro, head towards signs for Melia Caribe Tropical Hotels. The club is to the left of the hotels. If you are staying at a Sol Melia hotel nearby they will provide a shuttle service between Sol Melia Hotels and Cocotal.

Staying at the Melia Tropical Caribe?
You may well have free green fees in the price of your stay. If you do, you go to the customer service desk in the Caribe lobby and get your green fee coupons. When you get to thegolf course the pro shop will charge you US37.00 each for your cart.
If you don't golf you don't pay for the cart.
They will charge US10.00 to pre book your tee times or you can book the day before for free. It is easy to get to there is a shuttle that runs over every hour and it only takes about five minutes. I often walked it to get the exercise!
