It is open is follows:
* Breakfast 7.00 am - 10am
* Lunch 12.30am - 2.30pm
* Dinner 7.30pm-9.30pm

Independent review of the Catalonia Gran Dominicus resort
This is an independent review of the Catalonia Gran Dominicus resort in Bayahibe, South-East Dominican Republic, following a 3 week stay in April/May 2009.

Look out for the Dominican food on Saturday evening. There is a fabulous selection of local Dominican cuisine.
If you prefer an a la carte restaurant you have choice from three themed restaurants within the costs of your vacation:
There are 3 themed Catalonia Gran Dominicus restaurants. These are the following:
1. The Rodeo Steak House [menu above]
2. The Mariachi Mexican Restaurant
3. La Toscana Italian Restaurant
These restaurants are open between 7pm and 9.30pm and you will need to book your time from guest reservation [open 9-12 noon].
You can only normally book themed restaurants 2 days in advance and as they are open at 9am, it is worth popping along early to get your required time.
Indeed the times between 8pm-9pm are the most popular because people can then finish their meal and watch the show at 10pm.[cont right]

The Jacaranda Restaurant
In the evening the snack restaurant on the beach becomes the Jacaranda Restaurant.
This restaurant is located by the beach and is the only restauarant for which you have to pay.
They charge 35-40 USD per person [35 USD for an inside table] and you can have a menu including lobster, shrimps or meat.
It is quite a romantic location although as I was away with Ashers I can`t say that we tried it!
Patio restautant
As well as at `El Taino`, you can also get lunch at the Patio restaurant. This essentially comprises pasta and pizza.
In the evening the Patio restaurant becomes the Pizzeria and it is open for Pizza`s etc until 2pm.

Rodeo Steak House Grill
At this one you can get grilled steak or chicken, B-B-Q ribs etc.
Of course everyone has different tastes and we only ate once is this restaurant.
That is not because the food was poor, more that we preferred the Mexican or Italian restaurants.
The Mariachi Mexican Restaurant
Catalonia Gran Dominicus, Bayahibe, Dominican Republic We ate more here than in the other themed restaurants.
The fajitas were very nice and there were other dishes such as fillet of beef, chicken breasts, shrimps, omelette of corn meat etc.

La Toscana the Italian Restaurant
Many Italians take their vacation at the Catalonia Gran Dominicus and you expect there to be a decent Italian.[cont left]

Bars at Catalonia Gran Dominicus
* Bar Merenguero 8am-1am
* Beach Bar 10am-6pm
* Snack point on the beach 11am-5.30pm
* Bar Disco Midnight-2am
Alot of resort life was focussed around the Bar Merenguero.
Here you obtain some enjoyable cocktails, the local Presidente lager [which is very comparable with any other lager in the world], and a decent Capaccino.
Catalonia Gran Dominicus, Bayahibe, Dominican Republic There is a very friendly waitress service at this bar and say hello to Tito the bar Captain from Mike and Andy.
