Casa de Campo Excursions get no better than te beautiful Saona Island, about half an hour from Casa de campo. It is a palm-studded tropical island with fantastic turquoise, green and blue waters with have endless visibility. The powder white sand is what you dream of in a Caribbean Island.

It has a quiet fishing village with friendly locals who now cater to thousands of day trippers. You can go by catamaran, big tourist boat or small motor boat.

The boats generally leave from Bayahibe. If you are lucky, dolphins will swim along with you. Some excursions use speed boats that take tourists to visit the village of Mano Juan and Palmilla beach with its white sands. Mano Juan is a fishing village where you can purchase handicraft. Isla Catalina [Catalonia Island]

Isla Catalina, is a 9.6 square kilometre uninhabited off shore wildlife reserve located five miles south of La Romana. The island can be seen from La Romana.

The Taino Indians called this island "Toeya" and but there is no clear evidence whether they actually inhabited the island or not.
Christoph Columbus gave this island its current name in honor of Saint Catalina.

It is known for its white beaches and shallow waters and if you book a small boat with a local captain in Bayahibe or at Rancho
Cumayasa, he could easily include this little island in your day tour.

Catalina has coral reefs close to the island for snorkeling. Many dive excursions come to Catalina for the reefs and tropical fish.

Altos de Chavon

Altos de Chavon artists Village is a vibrant cultural community perched above the Chavon River. Cobblestone paths, coral stone fountains and terra cotta buildings create a magical effect in this village designed by Robert Coppa, an Italian architect who at the time was a Paramount movie set designer.

The Cueva de las Maravillas (Cave of Wonders)

The cave of wonders is located midway on the highway from San Pedro de Macoris to La Romana.

The cave's 240-meter footpath takes tourists to a majestic journey 25 feet underground. Once underground there are some fantastic stalagmites and stalactites.

This caves were used by the natives for the adoration of the mortuary rituals and the God of the called death Maqueteaurie Guayaba.

There are a collection of approximately 500 rupestrian paintings by the indigenous inhabitants.

The tour will take approximately one hour and should be included in every visit.

The National Park of the East

420 sq. kilometer flora and fauna reserve that is also a major archaeological centre for Taino Indian culture.

Botanists have counted 539 flora species and there are also many types of birds who live in the park.

Fun Fun Cave(Cueva Fun Fun)

The fun fun cave in Hato Mayor. Adventure lovers may book an underground excursion to Rancho Capote and its , the largest cave in the Caribbean, running seven kilometers underground. Experience the darkness down under, the giant corridors, the cave art, and the magic whisper of the subterranean rivers. This thrilling excursion begins with a ride on horseback, then a walk through "the jungle" and the cave, then ends with lunch. A day of caving, repelling, horse riding and lots of adrenaline. 12 year age minimum for the Rancho Capote excursion.

Nearby towns

La Romana-You can find an excursion to the nearby town of La Romana. Located only about 10 minutes drive from Casa de campo, you
can get a good feel for the Dominican Republic. You will find duty free zones, sugar mills, popular markets and local culture.

Santo Domingo-The capital Santo Domingo is about 90 minutes drive away but well worth a look. The jewell in the crown of the capital is the historic Colonial Zone

As an alternative you could take in the Santo Domingo Casino Tour which is in typical VIP style. It leaves from Casa de Campo and includes dinner at the Hispaniola Hotel, admission to the casino and disco as well as beverages on the bus.

Bayahibe town

People come to this beach and once fishing town, to take excursions to Saona Island. Indeed, the fishermen now man the boats that take the tourists to Saona. he beach is a Caribbean dream and the town itself is worth visiting for itself.
