Another free alternative is Macao beach which is about 40 minutes from Punta Cana. This beach is not as good for those families with small children.

Check out the seafood in the hut at the end of the beach!

Can I enjoy long walks along the beach?

In Dominican law beaches are public and in theory, you can freely stroll along the 40km beach strip going from one hotel's beach front to
another!

There are however practical considerations because some resorts won't let you past their gates unless you are staying there
or buying a day pass.

My experience is that there is plenty of beach to enjoy a long walk, take your MP3 player and headphones, I wouldn`t be without mine!
